Obituary
Jesse James Nix was born December 10, 1933, in Maplesville, Alabama to the late Eli Nix and Leatha Sims Nix. He passed away on August 9, 2025, in Brighton, Alabama.
Jesse confessed Christ at an early age at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Maplesville, Alabama. He left Maplesville, Alabama, and moved to Westfield, Alabama, where he attended Westfield High School. He then left Westfield and joined the US Army, and later moved to Chicago, Illinois.
Jesse had a strong work ethic. He worked for Siegel Steel in Chicago for 35 years. Jesse leaves behind a legacy of love for his family and friends and a commitment that will continue to inspire those who knew him.
In addition to his parents, Jesse was preceded in death by his son, Anthony Nix; sister, Lizzie Nix Andrews; and brothers, Willie James Nix, Delton Nix, and Eli Nix, Jr.
Jesse is survived by his children, Halena Howard (William) of Denver, CO, Jesse Nix, Jr., of Bessemer, AL, Cathy Jones of Houston, TX, and Derrick Nix (Lisa) Davenport, IA; one brother, Charles Nix (Juanita) of Bessemer, AL; fifteen grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
