Obituary
Joseph Lee Jones was born on September 22, 1943, to the late Deacon Eddie Jones and Mittie Jones. He was one of twelve children born to this union. Joseph accepted and confessed Christ at an early age and became a member of St. James Baptist Church, Thomaston, Alabama.
Joseph was affectionately called “Bay Brother” by family and many friends and showed love to his family and friends in his actions and support.
On November 11, 2024, Joseph took his journey home to eternal rest. He was preceded in death by his parents, Deacon Eddie Jones and Mittie Jones; daughter, Sylvia Jones; brothers, Cleveland, Gordon, and Eddie Jr.; and sister, Sandra.
Joseph leaves to cherish his precious memories: his wife, Dorothy Austin-Jones of Birmingham, Alabama; son, Wesley Austin of Fairburn, Georgia; two brothers, James Jones of Birmingham, Alabama, and Otis Jones of Thomaston, Alabama; five sisters, Rebecca Watson of Augusta, Georgia, Delia White and Sylvia Mair of Thomaston, Alabama, Geraldine Collins of Birmingham, Alabama, and Mittie Jones of Frederick, Maryland; one sister-in-law, Barbara Jones of Thomaston, Alabama; one devoted aunt, Hattie (Alfonzo) Chapman) of Cleveland, Ohio; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
